It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. I love this time of year. I love winter, I love Christmas, heck, I even love Baby Jesus ;) This time of year always makes me extremely appreciative of what I have; the privilege I was born into and my allegiance. It's a very sentimental time of year for me.
This morning I woke up to a few inches of snow on the ground. Being a skier and a snowbird, who loves New England, NOTHING makes me happier. I love snow. It's beautiful and amazing. How the earth does what it does is so humbling. It amazes me to think that it's snowing here, while other people in this country are probably planning to go to the beach. We, as Americans, are lucky to be where we are. We have snow and skiing and mountains and lakes and oceans and volcanoes and humid temperatures and dust bowls and giant waterfalls and cracked deserts and canyons and swamps; all at our fingertips and we can move from state to state and coast to coast without providing any documentation or proof of citizenship. I love it.
I love Christmas. I love Christmas trees and wreathes and Christmas baking. Mostly, at Christmas, I love spending time with my family. Family, is not the most important thing, as my dad says, but the only thing.
This weekend we're off to Maine to have our "Christmas" with my Mom & Dan, my sister, Rich and the baby. I love being at the farm, I love seeing my folks, and I love being near my sister. My sister centers me and makes me whole in a way that no one else can. I am so looking forward to Friday.
My Christmas cards have been mailed, my shopping is done, the house is decorated and the presents are wrapped. I'm ready to go. Christmas can still take its time so I can bask in the joy of the season, but everything here is done. To top if off, we were delivered our first real snow this morning. That makes me happy. Today is definitely a Oui day.
Oui?

I am not a fan of the snow although the first GOOD snow of the year always gets me. And this is a good snow.
So, Oui, Jessi! :)
