Behind the 8-ball

I have so much to post about. Below, please find Tanglewood which accounted for the first week of our summer vacation. Stay tuned for more on Camp 2008, our lastest hike, and of course... by high demand... the details of the engagement.

Tanglewood 2008

Tanglewood 2008 was an amazing time. As Dad Molloy called it "the beginning of a family tradition." We saw two amazing shows, one including Yo-Yo Ma, the famous cellist and the other featuring the BSO. In this picture we were doing what we did through most of the trip... tailgating, talking, and eating. We ate a ton and drank about 14 bottles of wine, and we played our new favorite game, Sequence, almost every day.

Our room at the Broken Hill Manor Bed and Breakfast was amazing. Each room is named after the heroine of a famous opera. Our room, the Violetta!

While in the Berkshires we managed to stop the by the Norman Rockwell museum, which displayed all of his works and covers for The Saturday Evening Post, and toured his workshop.

The area was absolutely amazing and Aaron and I even managed to sneak off to hike Monument Mountain in Great Barrington, MA.

At one of the shows Coco, the 26-year-old-monkey, did a little show. I decided I am going to look into getting a monkey permit. I need one of those.

It was an amazing beginning to our extended summer vacation!

Wednesday, Oui?

Rarely am I superstitious. I don't fear black cats, I easily kill spiders and if I spill salt I don't throw it over my shoulder.

I do, however, strongly believe in dreamcatchers.

I am one of those people who does not sleep soundly. I thrash and I yell and I try to have conversations AND I have frequent nightmares.

Years and years ago my Dad bought me a dreamcatcher. I became obsessed with the legend and concept. Perhaps by the placebo effect, I had a HUGE reduction in bad dreams.

Proof positive? Last night, I went to bed early. I had wonderful dreams about my future for the first part of the night. Then, half way through the night I had a horrible dream about my current worst fear; something I am overwhelmingly worried about.

This morning Aaron and I went for a nice walk with the dogs. I told him about my first dream and then about the second. I often tell Aaron the details of my dreams, he is a great listener and offers his thoughtful perspective.

This morning he offered this.

"Halfway through the night the cats woke me because they had pulled your dreamcatcher down and were batting it around. I put it in your dresser drawer."

He never told me that it got knocked down, so it wasn't the placebo effect.

Superstitious? Nope. A believer? Oui.

Strange; I don't really care for them.

Some gentleman with 5 camera's on his person offered to take our picture. I wonder where all those camera's came from? Unfortunately, (hint. hint. Aaron) he didn't steal my camera and took a pretty good pic of us.

Beautiful flowers. This is the first time I had seen the city in the summer. Gorgeous!

We ate and ate.

And rode the subway for two hours (it was only a two stop ride) I blame the wine.

Hilary and her damn umbrella. She left it at our restaurant which wouldn't be a huge deal if her umbrella didn't cost $50!!!

YUMMM!!!

Highlights of the trip ( I want to write them down so I will always remember):

• Riding the subway for entirely too long (and getting to ride it for free because we frustrated the cashiers so much they let us through to get rid of us)
• The "Moon" (don't ask)
• The gossip to Montreal.
• The gossip in Montreal.
• The gossip all the way home from Montreal.
• The ASSHOLE concierge.
• Getting lost going to the Delta.
• Fondue, fondue, fondue!
• No ice?! Try floor 8, 10, 12, 14...
• Creepers!!
• Hilary's whistling ring-tone at 12:00 AM and 2:30 AM and 3:00 AM...
• A deep philosophical conversation at 3:30 AM.
• The FOOD.
• St. Denis Street!!
• St Catherine's Street.
• Me, trying to park my sparkly new car in a tiny French parking garage "Hil, I think we should check on the car today."
• My GPS "Jessi, don't forget to turn in 176 miles... Damn you Seech!"
• 2-4-3. Do I smell smoke at the Delta? Call the Fire Dept to the 6th floor.
