I was not into working yesterday. Try as I might, I did go into the office, but I wasn't "feelin' it." This usually happens every few months and is a good indicator that I need a vacation. My job is emotionally draining and, from time-to-time, I need a break.
I went into the office around 9:00am... and left around 12:30. To be honest, my exact thoughts as I was sitting at my desk, looking at my emails, phone calls to return, and to-do list were, and pardon my French, "F*ck this-- I'm outta here." Don't get me wrong, I love my job and I am so blessed to have such an amazing career, co-workers, and office, but sometimes a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do. For me, yesterday, it was come home and take a nap. So I did.
Aaron was home because of President's Day and VERY happy to see me walk through the door. I kissed him a quick 'hello' and ran upstairs to change and take a nap. We had plans to head up to Portland to pick up our wedding order (engagement photos, guest book, save-the-date magnets and etc.) so I knew I didn't have a lot of time to catch some zzzzz's.
I slept until about 2:15 and we left immediately. In no time we were in Portland at Focus Photography on beautiful Commercial Street looking at over $1000 in pictures. Let me tell you, it was worth every penny. I am so pleased with the way our guest book turned out and our save-the-date magnets are so amazing. We also managed to get several prints for our home and some for our parents.
On the way home Aaron and I stopped for dinner at one of my favorite childhood haunts... BONANZA!! The whole way to Portland I kept talking about the dinner we were planning afterward saying, "I'm going to get a big, big, big, big, big, big steak." And so I did.
Two things that Aaron said I have to write here because I don't ever want to forget or take them for granted.
As we are pulling out of the parking lot, onto Commercial Street, I'm blabbing on and on about "how cute our magnets are," and how "I can't wait to send them out" blah, blah, blah. Aaron takes my hand gently stopping me mid-sentence and says "It's really happening. I am marrying you." Sure is :)
Later that night, as we are eating dinner at Bonanza, "I want to go back there in a couple of years and have them take pictures of your big pregnant belly and skinny little arms, and we can send out save-the-date cards for our baby."
Melt my heart, I can't help but love that guy...
