Fun Fact Thursday: Opera cures the hiccups

Two weeks ago we (Aaron & I) drove to Cape Elizabeth, Maine to meet my Mom, Dan and Pepe for lunch. My Mom was dropping Pepe back home after he spent the weekend closing up the camp for the year (even though we already did most of it, he wanted some trees cut down and such.) We planned on a late lunch and figured what better place to eat than one that Adam Richmond (Man v. Food) recommends? So, we ate at The Lobster Shack, which was featured on a recent episode of Man V. Food- Portland, Maine.

The place was amazing and the food was delicious. We, surprisingly, didn't have to wait long as the day was overcast and gloomy. We all ate way too much!

On the way home, almost the entire ride from Portland to our house, Aaron had the hiccups. We tried everything to get rid of them; I scared him, he practiced breathing techniques, he tried drinking water-- we tried everything!!! He ate so much and had hiccups for so long, he was starting to feel sick to his stomach. About the time we hit Portsmouth the song "She Drives me Crazy" by The Fine Young Cannibals came on the radio. You all know the song. Well, at the part where the chorus chimes in "Ohhhh, Ooohhhh" Aaron sang this line in opera... loudly. Surprisingly, after that, his hiccups vanished!! I'm going to write Heloise and let her know we've found another cure for hiccups. LOL

Sounds like yet another fantastic adventure for the Molloy's (and family)

I've never tried singing really loudly (opera or otherwise) to get rid of the hiccups.

Emily gets them whenever she laughs
