One Year ago today

I can't believe it's been a year already. I've signed and sent away all the necessary paperwork for my recipient to be able to access my information, and perhaps initiate contact. I don't know if that's what she'll choose to do, but I want her to be able to access me if that's her wish.

There hasn't been a day, not one, where she didn't cross my mind. I hope she is well, as I know this has been a rocky year for her, according to the updates.

A lot of people ask me what I would say to her if I ever met her. Honestly, I don't know that I could speak. I would probably cry. I know I would definitely say thank you. Thank you for helping me appreciate how lucky I am to wake up every morning without pain. Thank you for helping me see that each day is a gift. Thank you for letting me be a part of something so huge. Thank you for helping me realize that I can do something completely selfless, with no reward to myself, and feel so completely good about it. Thank you, everyday, for still fighting; carrying my rich healthy marrow inside your body. We will always be a part of each other.

I really don't know. There are so many things I want to say to her... but more than anything I want her to be healthy.

I guess maybe I'm not making any sense here. There are so many emotions I have, and I'm having difficulty translating them. But I am thinking back to a year ago today; thankful for such a honor.

Unemployed

I think I want to quit my job and be a stay-at-home Mom.
Of course I can't quit and I don't have any 'human' children.
Perhaps I can just be a housewife? Oh the horror... where is my liberation? I just want to be barefoot in the kitchen hiding Aaron's baby inside my womb...

Okay, I'm being overly dramatic... I just really don't want to go to work today :(

Another Meme... I love these...

When's the last time you ran?
Shamefully a few weeks ago; So much for the ½ marathon (which I quit- I’m a quitter!)

What are you dreading right now?
Going to going to the gym, followed by going to get a flu shot, followed by going to work…

Who last grabbed your ass?
Aside from myself, probably Aaron, he always grabs it. My dad slaps it a lot too- which is weird and kinda gross, but, I have an apple bottom so who wouldn’t want to touch it? It defies gravity.

Do you eat raw cookie dough?
I do, but I try not to. Not because I’m scared of salmonella, but because I fill up on it.

Have you ever kicked a vending machine?
No

How do you eat Oreos?
I don’t care for the cream but I love the chocolate wafers dipped in milk.

Are you cocky?
Sometimes. If a competition is involved--- yes!! Otherwise, what’s it to you?

Could you live without a computer?
Live? I would hope so. Would I feel sad? Absolutely. How else could I be an internet stalker?

Do you wear your shoes in the house?
NO! Never… Only socks and slippers.

Who or what sleeps with you?
Aaron sleeps with me. As does, Rocko, Bing and Manny. That’s right folks, we only have a double bed.

At what age did you find out that Santa wasn't real?
I can’t remember, but I know that it was for a while before I told anyone. I was afraid if I told my parents I knew, the presents would stop.

How many phones-- house phones and cell phones are in your house?
2 cell phones.

What do you do when you're sad?
Keep it bottled up. I am not a “crier.”

Who would you call first if you won the lottery?
Aaron (if he wasn't with me). Then, Nicki.

What jewelry are you wearing?
My engagement ring, a watch, 3 bracelets, two toe rings and my tree of life necklace (I almost never take it off)

What's the first thing you do when you get online?
Check my email.

How do most people spell your name?
Jessi-e. I hate that “e.” My full name is Jessica. So, tell me this folks, if you are giving me a nickname for the purpose of shortening it, why add a letter? There is NO “E” in my name.. Argh! I hate that.

Where do you work?
A private non-profit in New Hampshire; An Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment Program.

What are you doing tomorrow?
Go to the gym, get my roots done, go to work, maybe go to a movie…

Is Justin Timberlake becoming the next Michael Jackson?
Don’t know… time will tell…

Favorite name for a girl?
Harlow and the top secret name I have stored away for when (if) I have a girl

Favorite name for a boy?
Utah.

When was the last time you left your house.
This morning, to walk the pups.

Do you return your cart?
Almost always.

Would you survive in prison?
Probably… I’m a tough broad.

If all of your friends were going on a road trip, who would most likely over pack?
Oh, tough one… Hands down either Hilary or Alyssa…

Do you know anyone with the same name as you?
Yes, there is a cashier at Shaw’s that spells it J-E-S-S-I too, and for some reason it makes me very angry!

What's the last thing you purchased?
Groceries.

Do your siblings ever pay for stuff for you?
Sometimes… but I’m independent and like to do it myself.

What brand are your pants right now?
Old Navy

What irritates you most on the Internet?
”You’ve just won the Wal-Mart Chain” click here…

Do you own expensive perfume/cologne?
Yes…

Do you get your hair cut every month?
Colored? Yes. Cut? No. I am weird about that. I only cut my hair a few times per year.

Do you go online everyday?
Lately, no… damn job/responsibilities.

Wednesday, Oui? The smoke has cleared...

So, I have been horrible about blogging lately. It's not that I have a lack of material; in fact, my life is so incredibly and wonderfully busy right now. I have several things to blog about and three things to 'Oui' about. BUT only one that I am going to do today/tonight because it is so, so 'Oui-worthy.'

After 36 years of smoking my mother has finally quit! I can not tell you how happy this makes me; how many times I have blown out my birthday candles with that being my only wish, and how the stars in the sky must know my request before I even begin reciting "star light, star bright..."

Mom, I am so immensely proud of you. I no longer doubt that you will someday know my children, be there for me and my siblings, and watch Xander grow into a young man. I can not imagine how hard it must have been for you.

And Dan, I am so very proud of you too. You've been smoke free for 8 weeks and counting... you both can do it!!!
