Sixes Meme

Much to some of my readers dismay, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE memes. I think they are the best cure for writers block. Sometimes it's such an easy "out" for me when I don't feeling like using real material.

Did I mention I love Memes, or Tag as others call it?

I was tagged by my sister for the sixes meme. What you do is go to your sixth picture folder, open your sixth picture, post it and blog about it!! Great idea! Except, I don't have a sixth picture in my sixth folder. This caused me so much distress. Last night, during American Idol, I was using all sorts of math equations, counting diagonally, anything, to find a sixth picture in some form of a sixth folder; but alas, I kept coming up dry. So, this morning, I decided I'm just going to post the sixth picture in the first folder that has one.

Here goes, this is the sixth picture in the eighth folder:

I'm a little embarrassed this happened to be the picture, but trust, it could have been much worse ;) This is a Halloween decoration I made last year. I had some serious down time after my surgery and Aaron had brought me to the Christmas Dove in Barrington. I saw this exact banner in the store selling for about $25. I thought, with a little construction paper and newsprint, I can do that. Low and behold, after investing in a few stickers at JoAnn's, I made a duplicate for about $3.

I gots the chubby cheeks! Wednesday Oui?

A Wednesday Oui, late, but a Oui none-the-less.

My Mother's side of the family, the "Peace" side, is notorious for their chubby cheeks. My mother admitted to me a few months ago, "I was at Dan's Class Reunion and someone came up to me and said, 'Are you a Peace?' and I said 'yes, how did you know that?' and they said 'well you have the, ah, Peace cheeks...' the chubby Peace cheeks, you know, the ones me, you, Pepe, and my sisters have. We gots the chubby cheeks!" Wait. What? Why is she dragging me into this? My cheeks are fine. They aren't chubby. The only run in I've had about my cheeks was in high school when a friend lovingly called me "Chipmunk" but that's because I'm cute. Right? Chipmunks are cute.

Tonight, I had a family session with one of my clients. As I was walking back to my office the mother of the client said, "Oh, we were watching CNN the other night and there was a new anchor that looked exactly like you. We couldn't get over it. She was very pretty. You two have the same... cute...[moving her hands in wide circles around her face] cheeks."

Now, I'm not for certain, but I think I gots the chubby cheeks. Didn't I?

Did I wake you?

You know that expression, the much overused expression, LOL; as in Laugh Out Loud? It's one of those expressions that, in my opinion, is a total lie. Often I will read something online, an email or a joke, and I'll reply LOL even if it only made me smile. So in a sense, I'm a liar. While I was amused, I never actually made a noise; thus I didn't laugh, and it certainly wasn't out loud.

Since the New Year Aaron and I have been on a seek and destroy mission of organization. Recently we have accepted the fact that we are in this apartment for another year... which isn't a bad thing, we've just realized that we won't be able to save enough for both the wedding AND a new house (the wedding, by the way, is in less than 9 months!!) So, if we're stuck here, we're going to make it even more livable than it already is.

Over vacation we spent hours, literally hours, cleaning, rearranging and organizing. There was one particular day that we spent 10 hours (doesn't that equal 20 hours if we are both participating?) cleaning together. Now, we are both very clean people, but this was the kind of day where you pay so much attention to detail that your entire collection of CD's end up alphabetized.

Among some of the house projects that have been on our list to do was to build some shelves in my closets (I say "my" because, well, I consider everything closet related to be mine) I wanted extra space for things and being really handy with wood and tools Aaron offered to make them. I would have just googled California Closets if it were up to me, but Aaron built them in no time, and boy did he do a good job!

Since we have gone back to work, we are still spending free time puttering around the house. Aaron received some power-tools for Christmas and I am reaping the benefits. I've discovered that a boy and his tools take many orders. All has been well and good, until this morning.

I've been particularly tired lately, mostly because I'm worried about a family member and find it difficult to go to bed and quiet the thoughts in my head. Last night was no exception. This morning, bright and early, I feel Aaron slither out of bed, kiss me and say, "Baby, you stay in bed, I'm going to work quietly on a few things, make you're coffee, and get going for the day."

"Cool," I thought as I sprawl out taking the entire bed.

Within a half of an hour I am snapped back to consciousness when I hear what sounds like a hyena dying. I jump out of bed (conveniently, I was fully clothed because I had already been up at about 6:00am to walk the dogs in a blizzard) put on my glasses, and run across the hall to find what poor animal is dying.

This is what I find:

Aaron has taken out all his clothes and shoes out of his closet and is cutting wood in my den (IN my den) and building shelves for his closet, before 8:00 am. I am standing in the door way of my beautiful den looking at clothes strewn about the room and saw dust on the floor. There wasn't a poor animal dying in the room across the hall from where I was soundly sleeping, but my husband-to-be hacking up pieces of wood with a trusty old hand saw.

He looks up at me and innocently asks, "Did I wake you?"

So does "work quietly" also translate loosely like LOL?

It's nice to feel wanted

So people, people, people, I can't tell you how many emails, texts, person-to-person and facebook messages I've received asking me to blog again. One person even said to me today (I didn't know this person was a regular reader) "You haven't blogged in forever and you didn't tell us you were going on a blog-vacation..." OMG! I love this. We really do pour our heart and soul into this blog and it's so nice to know that so many people really are reading and looking forward to new postings.

I want to assure everyone that we are going to be back up and running before you can say Lima-beans (thank you Punky Brewster for use of your phrase) Also, do not fear, there isn't any reason that we have had a lack of bloggage- life has just happened lately and we have been so very, very busy wrapping up from the holidays, school back in session, and me getting acquainted with my new promotion-- lest we also forget the New Year's resolutions.

It's so nice to know that people love us, are checking on us, or just plain curious.
My to-do list this weekend is to post some blog-stories... stay tuned, you will not be disappointed!

Wednesday, Oui?

I'm baaaaack! I have lots to blog about my long, much needed vacation, but I need time to go through all the pictures. There wasn't a lot that we did, but we made sure to savor every moment.

Stay tuned! Oui?
