Top Ten Tuesday

For this Tuesday (getting back into the swing of things) the TOP TEN things Aaron and I have been doing a LOT of lately:

10. Ignoring the internet, Facebook, (gasp) and most other forms of technology.
9. Worrying about the yard work the needs to be done.
8. Actually doing yard work
7. Enjoying an immensely relaxing week-long vacation at my family's camp in Maine full of all things wonderful; my sister, my Pepe, my family, kayaking, hiking, swimming, eating......
6. Tending to our "beasts." (We have been taking the dogs on an hour long walk in the morning then coming home to enjoy a cup of java together before jumping into the daily grind.)
5. Reading... all sorts of stuff.
4. Planning our upcoming vacations (Tanglewood with the Molloy's, another trip "upta" camp, and a weekend getaway to relax and enjoy a massage/facial/pedicure-- okay the last two are for me [this trip will be our last hurrah as "singletons" before the wedding])
3. Playing board games, specifically; Bananagrams (thanks Kaleena & Ray!!!!)
2. Planning the wedding. Did I mention planning the wedding?
1. Refocusing on what is really important in life (ie: not money or careers or tangibles, but things like family, health, relationships, self-care etc...).

Grrrr! (Post 1 of 2 for tonight)

For the last 72 minutes I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to upload pictures from my bridal shower to this dang thing. I keep getting an error message every time! It's so frustrating! Now that I'm back in the "blogging mood" I can't even get a picture to post!!! What gives?

To add to my annoyance, I just checked my email and I received a message from Vista Print (a popular online printing company) that read:

Vista Print..........Fill you basket with BIG savings!!!

Can you spot the fail? What I find a bit more alarming is that I just had them print up the thank you cards for my bridal shower. FML. Those had better be PERFECT!!! Doesn't anyone proof read anything anymore?

As soon as blogger is working properly expect to see a lot more of me... until then... keep checking back my friends!

Happy Birthday Lyssy!

Happy Birthday to one of my "bestest-friends-in-the-whole-wide-world." You know I love you more than life and I am so glad to have you. I'm thankful that you're one of the only people who knows all the dirty little details of my life (less people to kill off when I run for public office *wink*) and probably one of the few friends I have that would make this much of a mess for me at what was practically midnight. You are truly a necessity for me and I adore you!!!! I hope you had a great day!

Say What? "I'm up!"

I am an early riser and require very little sleep. Well, actually, that's a lie. I require a lot of sleep but for some reason my body doesn't allow it. Aaron, on the other hand, could sleep his life away and still wake up yawning.

Often times, for whatever reason, our sleep schedules don't coincide with one another. So, if one of us is sleeping and the other is up, we will begin our charades.

J: (pouncing loudly into the room) Yawwwwnnnnnnnnn!
A: (Silence. No movement.)
J: (slithering into bed) I'm up!
A: (groggily with eyes still closed) I can hear that.
J: I'm up. I'm up! (making direct eye contact so he knows I mean business)
A: Yeah, I have a feeling I am now too.

Wednesday, Oui? Planning

Hello my friends:

I have not given up on this blog and I hope you haven't given up on me ;)
I have been so incredibly busy with work and gearing up for vacation, it has also just occurred to us that we are getting married in about 65 days. So you know what that means? Crunch time!!! Most of our free time is devoted to planning and finalizing and decision making and coordinating and........

Unfortunately, given that, this blog has fallen by the wayside. I assure you, once the dust settles we will be back blogging more often than you care to read ;)

In the meantime, I am working on a post about my beautiful bridal shower, with plenty of pictures (and that recipe you all want.)

In the meantime, keep checking back- we'll be up and running soon :)

Mission Statement

This blog is much like my home. When you click on my blog you cross a boundary into my world; what I would like to be a judgment free world. You’re in my house now. Don’t come in if you want to pollute my environment with negativity.

As a guest in my home would you pick apart my style, critique my furniture, or want me to spend your entire visit complaining about my life's trials and tribulations? No. The same goes for my blog. You’re a guest here. The virtual world is a "boundary" between what I am going to post here, and what goes on in my “real life.”

This is my forum. Much like if you were a guest in my house, I would scurry around cleaning up, presenting to you my best self. I do the same with my writing. You come here for a smile, an anecdote, a laugh, or a oui. You don't come here to hear about the bad parts of my life. Just because I don't post about them, doesn't mean they don't exist. That part of me just happens to be none of your business.

I choose to blog about things that make me happy, things I want to look back on and relish. I am constantly recovering (on a daily basis) from things that are unpleasant, I need no reminders via written word. That is what my diary is for. If that omission makes it appear as though my life is easy, then you are more than welcome to turn back now, don't waste your time. I have an amazing group of people who I can vent to and get feedback in regards to those matters, I don’t have an overwhelming urge to hang my dirty laundry out to dry in front of strangers.

My greatest fear about blogging is that someone, anyone, would rob me of this right. To instill in me a need to gauge my every word, for me to feel intimidated to speak, to share, or to write. I would never take that privilege, liberty, or luxury from any one person. It’s not mine to take. If you're here for the taking, I hope you come up empty.
